*Media Advisory* Lt. Governor Visits Merrimac to Sign Community Compact Agreement

MERRIMAC – Merrimac Board of Selectmen are pleased to announce that Lt. Governor Karyn Polito will be signing the town’s Community Compact Agreement on Thursday.

Through the agreement the town was able to secure funding to provide resources for the Merrimac Police Department to receive accreditation through the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Council (MPAC) and aid Merrimac in its financial management strategies.

WHAT

The Community Compact Agreement was implemented by the Baker-Polito Administration in an effort to understand and respond to the needs of the Commonwealth’s municipalities. Through this agreement, Merrimac will receive financial management resources, including budget documents, long-range planning strategies, and assistance in applying for accreditation through MPAC.

The Merrimac Police Department has already received nearly $20,000 in funding through this program to put towards its accreditation status.
