Residents may notice an increased police presence in town today, due to an ongoing state police investigation. There is no danger or threat to public safety, however. Merrimac Police are assisting the Massachusetts State Police on the scene of an active investigation on Hadley Road. The operation, which included the execution of multiple search warrants, began early this morning and remains ongoing this evening. The investigation concerns various non-violent criminal allegations, and I want to assure the community that there is no danger whatsoever to our residents.
