Merrimac Police Charge 16-Year-Old With Burglary

MERRIMAC — Police Chief Eric M. Shears reports that the Merrimac Police Department arrested a boy and charged him with repeatedly burglarizing his neighbor’s home.

JUVENILE MALE, AGE 16, OF MERRIMAC was arrested after he was questioned by Merrimac Police and seen fleeing a residence near Lake Attitash. The homeowner called Merrimac Police on Sunday evening to report that he could see a young male burglarizing his home through a live camera fed to his cellphone.

After questioning, the suspect admitted to breaking into the home on four separate occasions and stealing clothing and personal items from the homeowner.

The suspect was charged with:

  • Breaking and Entering in the Nighttime to Commit a Felony
  • Unarmed Burglary
  • Larceny from a Building
  • Disturbing the Peace

The case will be referred to Essex County Juvenile Court-Newburyport.

These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
