MERRIMAC — Chief Eric M. Shears is pleased to announce that the Merrimac Police Department will participate in the Toys for Tots program.image1-11

Merrimac Police have already begun collecting toys, and will continue the toy drive until Dec. 16. The police department has been participating in the Toys for Tots program for the last several years. The Toys for Tots program was founded by the U.S. Marine Corps in 1947 and continues to provide toys to needy children all over the country.

“Our department is proud to participate in this wonderful cause each year,” Chief Shears said “We hope that all residents who are able will come donate a toy and help bring joy to those children who might not otherwise receive gifts during the holiday season.”

Residents can donate new, unwrapped toys for children ages infant to 16 in the lobby of the Merrimac Police Station. The donation box is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Chief Shears says that the department is specifically seeking toys for children ages infant to 2, and for children ages 6 and older.
