Merrimac Police Department Accepting Applications for Reserve Police Officer Positions

Chief Eric Shears is pleased to announce the Merrimac Police Department is seeking applications for four Reserve Police Officer positions.

Reserve Police Officers are sworn police officers who protect and serve the residents of Merrimac through proactive and emergency responses. Candidates must be at least 21 years old, possess a valid Massachusetts driver’s license, and have (or be able to obtain) a license to carry.

Hours of work include all three shifts, weekends and holidays on a regular basis. These are a part-time positions. Reserve Officers are also required to maintain all certifications to remain a certified police officer in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Candidates will be evaluated based upon their training, education and experience in law enforcement or a related field. At a minimum, candidates should be a certified Massachusetts Reserve/Intermittent Police Officer, with a valid C.P.R., and First Responder certification.

The appointment to this position will be subject to a satisfactory background investigation, medical exam, psychological exam and drug screen.

The anticipated start date would be on or after June 1, 2021. The starting salary is $21.63 per hour after the successful completion of the Field Training Program.
